Due to the ongoing requirements for social distancing of audience, the Board has decided to postpone the proposed Chapter Seligman Theatre production of A Man For All Seasons originally scheduled for November 2021 until March 2022. We will therefore be reviving our one act production of The Rose and Crown by J.B. Priestley.

We are asking for submissions for another one-act play to make a double bill.

The dates are as follows:
Get in: 14 November
Dress rehearsal: 15 November
Performances: 16 – 20 November with a matinee on Sat 20.

Small cast
Low budget
Length 45 mins to 1 hour approx.

Additionally, the Board would welcome submissions which are in some way linked to at least one of the themes of The Rose and Crown which include (but are not limited to): the supernatural, austerity, 1940s, ‘personal fulfilment’ and ‘state-of-the-nation’. Please note that this is NOT an absolute requirement of submission.

The Board have also decided, on this occasion, to waive the ‘2 year rule’ so that anyone may apply subject to the provisos listed below. Please also note that it is more than likely that audience numbers will be reduced / socially distance with approx 60 as the full capacity.

Submissions protocol:
The Board invites submissions from members who have either directed a main-stage Everyman show or recently directed a clubnight production. Submissions should be one side of A4 only. They need to include the director’s visions for the piece including staging, lighting / sound, costume etc. Performance rights must be available and a budget must be included as well as size and gender balance of cast. Please bear in mind that the one act play is part of a double-bill so a shared set or one that is easily set up / struck would be looked on favourably.

Please send submissions (or any queries) to

Deadline – 31 August.

A selection committee will meet shortly afterwards.
