Clubnight: Drama School – What is it and should I apply? with Marilyn Le Conte

If you’ve ever considered a career in acting but had doubts about how to get started, if you’re thinking of applying to drama schools but don’t know which ones nor how to do it, nor what you’d be letting yourself in for, you haven’t a clue about how to choose speeches, or how to do them, whether it’s the right move for you, what that life would consist of and whether you have the skills and/or personal qualities to audition let alone be a successful actor, if the prospect of auditioning scares and mystifies you, if you’ve ever wondered whether some other aspect of the industry would suit you better or if you just want to ask a thousand questions about everything, or if you’re the parent or guardian of someone that has any of these thoughts, then this inclusive workshop will have the answers.
I have taught for over forty years in four different drama schools and was a senior lecturer in acting at RWCMD for most of those, and I really enjoyed the recruitment part of my job. I have auditioned candidates in Wales, London and Manchester, Scotland, New York and Chicago and I’ve seen a huge range of talent and a huge range of ability to demonstrate that talent, and as an actress myself, I understand the pressures and the fact that sometimes it’s hard to get expert advice. But there’s a joy to auditioning and I’d like to share that with you too, so come along, bring your mum/dad – if you want to – and there’ll be lots of opportunities to ask questions.
You can do it! And I will help you x
Marilyn Le Conte BA Hons, former senior lecturer in acting RWCMD, visiting lecturer BOVTS, LIPA, RBC, co-author ‘Radioactive’, 3 vols Methuen/A & C Black, actor, director, writer, Everyman member”
