Clubnight: Director’s Pitch – Amadeus, with Simon Futty

Amadeus by Peter Shaffer directed by Simon Futty and presented by Everyman Theatre, Cardiff in the Seligman Theatre, Chapter Arts Centre 14 – 18 January 2025.

Legnago, Republic of Venice 1764. A young Antonio Salieri makes a pact with God: let me be a composer – touch me with genius and I will dedicate my life to you. My music will glorify your name and I will live with virtue all my life. But 16 years later his dream lies in ruins. A new upstart rival is in the ascendance and clearly has God’s backing. This is no ordinary jealousy – this is war, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the battleground.

Peter Shaffer’s 1979 masterpiece, Amadeus, at Chapter Arts Centre on January 14 – 18 2025. Expect an evening of thrilling, gripping theatre.
