Auditions: The Tell-Tale Heart + The Monkey’s Paw

Audition Notice: The Tell-Tale Heart + The Monkey’s Paw for performance at the Seligman Theatre, Chapter Arts Centre, 16 – 20 November 2021

I am very pleased to announce that I will be directing The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, and The Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobson, adapted by Louis N. Parker as one half of a double-bill with The Rose and Crown by J.B. Priestley, which is directed by Wayne Vincent and had its premiere at Cardiff Open Air Festival in July at Insole Court.

The Tell-Tale Heart will be performed in its entirety as a one-person play.

The Monkey’s Paw is in an adaptation in three scenes of the original short story. It had its premiere in the West End in 1903.

Auditions:

The Tell-Tale Heart
Friday 24 September 6 – 7.30pm
Saturday 25 September 11 – 12.30pm

The Monkey’s Paw
Friday 24 September 7.30 – 9pm
Saturday 25 September 1.30 – 3pm

If you are unavailable for any of the slots please indicate when you are available and I will try to organize an alternative time.

Preparation:

The Tell-Tale Heart: Please prepare the first two paragraphs of the story for performance. These do not need to be books down. Please also work on a short section of your own choice from the rest of the story. This should be 2 mins max.

The Monkey’s Paw: Please look at the script and be prepared to act script in hand the scenes for which you will be auditioning for:
Mr and Mrs White – contrast the opening scene with the final scene
Herbert / Sergeant Major / Mr Samson – their scenes.

Texts will be sent out via email to auditionees with the confirmation of booking.
