“Half Light: Devising the Personal Stories Behind Events at Greenham Common”

Andy Kempe is one of the UK’s leading practitioners in Drama Education. He is an Emeritus Professor of Drama Education, University of Reading after working there for 28 years. He has written / co-written 18 books on teaching Drama including ‘Learning to Teach Drama’, ‘Progression in Secondary Drama’, and ‘Drama, Disability and Education’.

CONTENT

In the workshop, Andy will outline:
* How he used a drama workshop process to create the play “Half Light” to mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
* His focus on a Newbury family’s involvement with Greenham Common during World War Two.
* Plans to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of a group of Cardiff women, children and pensioners in establishing the Peace Camp at Greenham Common in September 1981.
* How some of his techniques for devising drama might be used to mark this historic occasion.

Participants will need a pen and some paper.
